The head of the African Union (AU) executive committee, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has denounced the recent changes in government that are against the African constitution.
The head of the AU denounced this during an emergency meeting held by the Economic Development Organization of West African Countries (ECOWAS) last Sunday, on the current situation in the Republic of Niger.
Condemning the recent coup d'état in Niger, Faki said that the situation will not only affect Niger, because it will affect the entire region.
Faki said, the senseless nature of this coup, the way it violates the rules of the AU and the great threat it can cause to the stability of the countries in the region, means that it must be terminated.  He is saying that this coup, like all the illegal changes of governments by the military putting themselves in power, must be put to an end.
Faki warned that failure to stop coups in Africa could be a way to increase the number of such changes of governments that are against the constitution of the continent.  (Abraham)
