The head of Wagner's mercenaries, Yevgeny Prigozhin, died in a plane crash, along with nine other people on planes in Russia.
He is believed to be in the plane that crashed.
Earlier, a Telegram forum called Gray Zone reported that the plane was shot down by anti-aircraft missiles in the Tver region, north of Moscow.
The plane, which flew from Moscow to the city of St. Petersburgh, carrying seven passengers and three crew members.

Prigozhin led an unsuccessful military coup against the Russian army in June.
The Gray Zone Telegram site reported that residents of the area said they heard two explosions before the plane crashed, and saw two plumes of steam at the time.
The Tass news agency said the plane caught fire when it landed, adding that the bodies of four people had already been found.
He said the flight left less than half an hour after takeoff.
The Russian news agency Interfax reported the Ministry of Emergency Relief that it is believed that all the people on board the plane died when it fell to the ground.
