Khalifa Isyaku Rabi'u University in Kano has announced the commencement of studies for the 2023/2024 academic session, where it will start with 16 subjects.
Rabiu Ishaku Rabiu, son of the late Alhaji Isyaku Rabiu, the founder of the university made this known shortly after the inauguration of the university's governing council.
Malam Rabi'u said that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that the university starts working successfully in January 2024 to conduct the academic session without any problems.
He expressed his concern over the lack of access to universities in Nigeria, saying that only a small number of applicants get admission every year.
He added that the establishment of the university has come at the right time, because the number of students who are seeking admission in universities in Nigeria are not able to find places in the existing ones, pointing out that the World Bank has show that the number of candidates who do not get a place to study in universities every year is between 84.7 percent and 94.8 percent.
"After getting the license, the board of trustees was launched, and now the board of directors is on the job, the students have started to be recruited.
"We will take responsibility and the university is ready to start studying.
“We will start studying in December/January. And all the works will be completed by next month," he said.
